Transitioning to Agile Project Management

Agile offers an alternative approach to the traditional Waterfall project management technique and is suitable for use when delivering complex products in a challenging environment. Often perceived as a way of delivering “better, faster, cheaper”,  Agile is not a silver bullet, nor is it suitable for all types of project. This 3-day workshop explores Agile from its most introductory point, creatively involving attendees in discussions surrounding cultural change, quality delivery and explores what is needed to deliver a successful Agile Project. Transitioning challenges the status quo at all levels within the organisation, not least of all, the PMO and Project Managers who need to operate differently.

Designed to help traditional Project Managers understand what Agile is and what is involved in a successful transition, this hands-on workshop is designed to offer insight into Agile from its most introductory point, creatively involving delegates in discussions surrounding cultural change, governance and quality delivery.

  • Participants will learn what Agile really is and how it reduces risk and guarantees alignment to your specific policies and procedures.

  • They will leave this workshop understanding what the transition to Agile will mean and how to plan the transition in your organisation.

Scaled Scrum

The Scrum framework is designed to deliver complex products and services in complex environments. Many organisations create scaling models to shoe-horn Scrum into the constraints of their traditional organisation, governance and development practices.

This workshop, based on the principles and practices of the Scrum.org Nexus framework, is designed to provide a practical understanding of how to enable multiple, coordinated teams working on the same product.

  • Participants will learn how to lead and govern multiple self-organising teams that are aligned to your specific policies and procedures.

  • They will leave this workshop understanding how to manage complexity and reduce risk in large Scrum environments.

Selling Agile Engagements

Sales and delivery teams frequently seem to be working at odds, particularly in the world of Agile contracts. Agile development emphasizes the delivery of functionality to deliver commercial value at the end of each sprint. Instead of having to wait for months, the Customer is involved and can see regular progress. A great way to deal with complexity, Agile allows all parties to collaborate towards an end goal rather than fix details upfront. So how do you sell that, safe-guarding both your client and commercial risk?

Combining the essentials of Agile with solution sales techniques, this practical 2-day workshop will allow attendees to return to their organisation with an understanding of Agile and a set of tools that can be applied immediately and effectively to noticeably improve their sales process and ongoing customer relationships throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Participants will learn what Agile is, how to adapt traditional commercial models and how to increase customer engagement throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • They will leave this workshop with the knowledge and confidence to engage in an Agile way with both customers and Development teams.

Team Communication & Collaboration Skills

Communication & collaboration are crucial to Agile, but it’s where many teams fail. Communication styles and cultures can lead to misunderstanding and frustration so we designed this practical 1-day workshop. Participants will learn about the four communication styles, motivation styles and how to adapt their style to improve collaboration.

  • Participants will learn how to identify their own and others’ communication style so that they can improve their team communication & collaboration.

  • They will leave this workshop with the knowledge and confidence to engage in a variety of ways with both customers and Development teams.

Agile for Government

The UK’s Government Digital Service (GDS) has mandated Agile as the way of delivering many projects. Stringent focus on user needs, common design principles and openness means a completely different way of working for many organisations.

All of our Agile workshops can be contextualised to specifically support your implementation of the GOV.UK Service Manual.
